Zero injury environment is possible, not a target

Kautex is committed to showing the highest level of respect for its employees by partnering with them to achieve an injury-free environment. The company has achieved breakthrough results in the last 5 years with an injury rate (TRIR) of less than 0.5. In 2021, 17 Kautex facilities were able to work the entire year without a recordable injury, and 8 facilities celebrated their third consecutive year without a recordable injury.

Our environment, health and safety vision and principles

Kautex People

We are committed to the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and communities. We will actively champion environmentally sound practices and safe behaviors. We will continuously improve our processes, require individual accountability and demonstrate leadership to achieve zero injuries and illnesses, eliminate adverse environmental impacts, and contribute positively to the communities in which we operate.

Environmental, Health & Safety Operating Principles:

  • No job or activity is worth risking injury
  • All injuries, illnesses and environmental incidents are preventable
  • Working safely and in an environmentally responsible manner is a condition of employment
  • Each of us is responsible for the safe behavior of ourselves and others
  • Environmental, Health and Safety is led by senior management, implemented by line management, with each level accountable to the one above and responsible for the one below
  • We will design and integrate Environmental, Health and Safety into our products, our facilities, and into our management process
  • All employees will be provided the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to work safely
  • Strong environmental, health and safety performance is good business

Kautex builds its EHS program on two important pillars: Risk Reduction and Building a Strong Safety/Quality Culture. Any accident that occurs at a Kautex facility is analyzed using an A3 process. The identified gaps allowing the accident to occur are examined and addressed.

A program of “Must Do” steps to close the system gaps is driven across all Kautex locations. Best practices are shared for the purpose of replicating improvement measures. Involving employees in building the safety systems builds the critical mass we need to sustain the gains and improvements.
